We're still several days away from the Super Bowl, but Internet domain company GoDaddy.com has already come under fire for an ad it planned to run during the game, and yesterday (January 27th) announced that they'd pulled it, saying it won't air.
The ad, which seems to be a parody of Budweiser's puppy-themed ads, features a cute golden puppy who falls out of a truck on a country road and then manages to find his way home.
When he arrives, his owner is overjoyed, but says it's because she just sold him online using a website she built with GoDaddy.
After the ad appeared online, there was a backlash, with some charging that it made light of puppy mills, and a Change.org petition was started calling for it be pulled, which drew tens of thousands of signatures.
So on Tuesday, GoDaddy.com CEO Blake Irving tweeted that the ad would be removed and wouldn't air during the Super Bowl, saying, "What should have been a fun and funny ad clearly missed the mark."
