Cox Media Group has promoted Jud Heussler to director of operations for its eight-station Jacksonville radio cluster, putting him in charge of programming strategy and day-to-day operations after Jules Riley’s move to Atlanta.
Heussler will work with market leadership and air staff on ratings, content and execution across CMG Jacksonville’s brands and digital platforms.
The cluster includes CHR 95.1 WAPE, Power 106.1, Hot 106.5, ESPN 690, Easy 102.9 WEZI, classic rock 96.9 The Eagle, news/talk 104.5 WOKV and alternative X99.5. “Jud brings the right mix of programming judgment, operational discipline, and people-first leadership to this role,” said Jacksonville Radio Vice President and Market Manager Brian McGhee.

Heussler joined CMG in March 2021 as director of branding and programming for WAPE and later Easy 102.9. The Jacksonville Business Journal named him to its 40 Under 40 list in 2024.
Before Florida he programmed Curtis Media’s Pulse FM in the Raleigh market and spent years at Entercom’s Kiss 98.5 in Buffalo as assistant program director, music director and on-air host. He studied audio/radio and TV/film production at SUNY Fredonia. “We have top-tier radio stations, talented people, and a real connection to this community,” Heussler said. “I’m excited to work alongside our teams to keep evolving what we do and how we connect with our audiences while ensuring CMG Jacksonville continues to grow and win.”
He succeeds Riley, who this summer became director of operations and programming for CMG Atlanta Radio, overseeing stations that include WSB-FM, WSRV and WALR. Riley had run Jacksonville programming since 2020. The promotion keeps the Florida cluster’s programming lead in-house rather than importing a new outsider.
