MS Now Launching DTC Streaming Service

MS NOW is launching its first direct-to-consumer streaming service, MS NOW Membership, on Sept. 9, letting viewers watch Rachel Maddow and other hosts without a traditional pay-TV subscription.

The Versant-owned channel’s offering will include a live stream of its TV programming plus additional digital content and opportunities to interact with the network’s contributors and analysts. It will cost $7.99 per month or $79.99 per year, with an introductory rate of $39.99 annually available through Sept. 30.

“Our mission has always been to inform, engage and empower our audience,” MS NOW President Rebecca Kutler said in a statement. “Our Membership is the first step in a long-term strategy to deepen our relationship with audiences in ways that build on what they already value about MS NOW, while addressing what consumers told us was missing from the news experience.”

Like other cable networks, MS NOW faces declining pay-TV subscribers, a major revenue source. The channel, formerly known as MSNBC, has never before been available without a traditional subscription.

CNN has offered its own streaming service since October for $6.99 a month, while Fox News is available through parent company Fox Corporation’s Fox One platform for $19.99 a month.

MS NOW is part of Versant, the new company formed from NBCUniversal cable channels spun off by Comcast. Versant is working to reduce its reliance on the shrinking pay-TV business as viewers shift to streaming.

The network already reaches large digital audiences, reporting 3.2 billion subscribers across YouTube and TikTok in 2026 and more than 80 million podcast downloads. Comscore data shows less than 10% overlap between its TV and digital viewers.
