NBC Universal Taps Philly Newser for Diversity Job

Anzio Williams
Anzio Williams, vice president of news for NBC10 and Telemundo62 in Philadlephia, will be leaving the station after receiving a promotion by a division of parent company NBCUniversal, reports The Philadelphia Business Journal.

He has been appointed senior vice president of diversity, equality and inclusion for NBCU-owned television stations and will report to Valari Staab, president of NBCUniversal Owned Television Stations.

Williams has directed news operations at NBC10 (WCAU) and sister station Telemundo62 since arriving in Philadelphia in July 2012. During his tenure, Williams helped NBC10 gain ground on longtime ratings leader 6ABC and created some distance between itself and local competitors CBS3 and Fox29.

Part of that was the boost received when NBCU was bought by Comcast Corp. (NASDAQ: CMCSA), which in turn invested a significant chunk of money in local news stations.
