R.I.P.: Former WMCA NYC 'Good Guy' Frank Stickle

Franklin Walter Stickle, 85, of Mooresville, NC died Saturday, January 27, 2018.

Stickle was born on November 22, 1932 in Buffalo, NY, graduated from SUNY Buffalo with a degree in Elementary Education, and his love was radio.

His career highlights include DJ and newsman for WMCA “Good Guy” Radio in New York City, and news reporter and TV host for WTNH-TV, New Haven, CT.

Stickle later served as Director of Marketing and Community Relations for General Instrument’s AmTote Division in New Haven, and subsequently as a substitute teacher for high schools.

He loved the New York Yankees, and in 1964 and 1965 had the thrill of donning pinstripes to play exhibition games with fellow NYC on-air personalities and entertainers, where he got to sit in the dugout with Mantle and Maris.

  1. I will never forget growing up in NYC in the early to late 60’s hearing the WMCA GOOD GUYS. The last great time to be a kid in NYC and in America

  2. I worked with Frank at OTB in the 70's. A good guy. I remembered him from WMCA. RIP Frank
