A publisher of a central Kansas newspaper released new video of police officers searching through the home of a 98-year-old woman who co-owned it.
KMBC-TV Marion County Record publisher Eric Meyer released the video of the raid on the home of Joan Meyer.
"Don't you touch any of that!" Joan Meyer could be heard saying. "This is my house."
Marion, Kansas police officers seized computers, personal cellphones, and a router from the newspaper's office and the publisher’s home.
Joan Meyer would die just one day after the raid. Her son Eric says the raid contributed to her death.
A coroner's report released by Marion County states the cause of death for Joan Meyer was "sudden cardiac arrest."
"If they only would have listened to her and left her house, we wouldn't be in the problem we have now," attorney Bernie Rhodes said. "And by the way, Joan Meyer may still be alive today if they would have listened to her and just got out of her house."
