Westwood One’s NHL coverage began with the Winter Classic on January 2nd. In addition, this season’s NHL package consists of the following nationally featured games:
- NHL All-Star Game (Staples Center, Los Angeles)
- St. Louis at Detroit, February 15
- Washington at N.Y. Rangers, February 19
- Boston at Anaheim, February 22
- Pittsburgh at Chicago, March 1
This year’s All-Star game will be played on Sunday afternoon, January 29th, 2017 at Staples Center in Los Angeles. Westwood One/NBC Sports Radio will then broadcast four regular season games in February and March, a Playoff Game of the Week starting in April, as well as the Conference Finals and the Stanley Cup Final.
NHL programming will be available on NBC Sports Radio affiliates throughout the United States, as well as on NBCSportsRadio.com, NBCSports.com, the NBC Sports Radio mobile app, SiriusXM Radio (213/Sirius and 202/XM), and the TuneIn digital radio platform.
Kenny Albert (play-by-play) and Joe Micheletti (analyst) will serve as NBC Sports Radio’s primary broadcast crew, including the Winter Classic, the All-Star Game, and the 2017 Stanley Cup Final. Albert calls regular-season and post-season NHL games on NBC and NBCSN and has served as a hockey play-by-play commentator for NBC Sports at four Winter Olympics. He is also the radio play-by-play voice for the New York Rangers. Micheletti serves as an analyst for NBC Sports Group’s NHL regular-season and post-season coverage, and is a TV analyst for the New York Rangers as well. He began his broadcasting career in 1985 as part of the St. Louis Blues radio team.
