The firing on the first day the show was scheduled to air following the publication by The Fort Myers News-Press over the weekend of a story critical of Beasley's firing last June of former "Miller and Moulton" co-host Mark Miller.
Moulton, who writes a twice-weekly column for The News-Press, was a vocal participant in the story. He declined to comment The News-Press Tuesday on his firing.
In his interview with The News-Press for the story on Miller's firing, Moulton was aware of his tenuous employment position with Beasley Broadcast Group given months of tension following Miller's firing in late June.
Got fired today. Just want to THANK all the listeners over 17 years. You made this job the best experience of my career! #grateful— David Moulton (@THEDavidMoulton) January 17, 2017
The story on Miller and Moulton discussed the possibility of a reunion on local competitor FOX Sports Radio 97.3 FM, 1240 and 1270 AM, where former 99.3 ESPN program director John Cassio worked following his firing by Beasley Broadcast in January 2016 and replacement in that position with Chris Beasley, the son of station general manager Brad Beasley.
But Cassio just accepted a position to work in Washington D.C. on SiriumXM as its Director of College Sports Nation Channel 84.
