The International Academy of Digital Arts & Sciences (IADAS) today announced the nominees for the 19th Annual Webby Awards, honoring the best in digital media. WNYC 820 AM / 93.9 FM, has been recognized for its excellent digital content with two nominations and two Official Honoree titles, competing with nearly 13,000 other entries from all 50 US states and over 60 countries.
WNYC’s app feature “Discover,” which offers users customizable, time-based playlists based on their interests, was nominated in the Mobile: Best Streaming Audio category and “Bodega Cats in their Own Words,” a whimsical look into the minds of cats from all five New York City boroughs, was nominated in the Experimental & Weird category. As nominees they have been chosen as one of the five best in the world in their category, and will compete for the coveted The Webby and the The Webby People’s Voice Award.
In addition, two WNYC digital projects were selected as an Official Honorees, a distinction given to only the top 20% of all entries that exhibit remarkable achievement: WNYC’s daily newsletter, “The Morning Brief” and WNYC’s answer to March Madness, the “March Meowness: Bodega Cat Bracket.”

The Webby Awards is the leading international award honoring excellence on the Internet.
