Cumulus Media’s New Country 96.3 (KSCS-FM) and 99.5 The Wolf (KPLX-FM) announce that the Country stations raised $260,000 for Cook Children’s Medical Center at the Third Annual Texas Independence Jam guitar pull on Wednesday, March 20th at the historic Billy Bob’s Texas in Fort Worth.
DFW Country music fans turned out in full force to enjoy live music performances from a star-studded lineup, in sets of three artists at a time, featuring Old Dominion, Dustin Lynch, Cole Swindell, Nate Smith, Corey Kent, Ty Herndon, Lauren Alaina, Ian Munsick and surprise guests, Paramalee.
Tickets to New Country 96.3 and 99.5 The Wolf’s Texas Independence Jam were sold by Billy Bob’s Texas, and proceeds from the ticket sales went directly to Cook Children’s. During the check presentation the stations announced that the show had raised $248,500 for the hospital, but before they concluded, Shawn Swenson, General Manager of Legacy Chevrolet GMC in Waxahachie, TX, donated an additional $11,500 - bringing the grand total raised to $260,000.
Highlights of the show included an appearance by friends of the station, Country legend Randy Travis and his wife Mary, joining with everyone at Billy Bob’s Texas to sing “Happy Birthday” to 96.3’s Michelle Rodriguez. An emotional moment capped off the show when Old Dominion, Cole Swindell, Dustin Lynch, Nate Smith, and Ty Herndon collaborated on a tribute to the late, great Toby Keith. Together, and with help from the crowd, they sang “Should’ve Been a Cowboy.”
New Country 96.3 and 99.5 The Wolf’s Texas Independence Jam was proudly sponsored by Kroger, Silver Star Ranch Style Coffee Whiskey, CC Carpet, Miller Lite, Legacy Chevrolet, Melinda’s Hot Sauce, Applebee’s, Whataburger, Visit Big Bend, Dave & Busters, Seconds & Surplus, Eggs Up Grill, Jim Adler, and PBR and all benefitted Cook Children’s.
Mike Preston, Program Director for New Country 96.3 and 99.5 The Wolf, said: “Our third Texas Independence Jam was another night to remember! An amazing evening at Billy Bob’s that finished with an emotional tribute to the late Toby Keith with our stars performing his signature song “Should’ve Been A Cowboy.” This is the kind of magic that has made our audience quickly learn that you never know what to expect when so many artists come together at this show.”
