Steve Baker, an investigative reporter for Glenn Beck's Blaze Media, has been arrested by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) in connection with his coverage of the Capitol riot that occurred on January 6, 2021.
Baker’s reporting focused on the events surrounding the mob of Trump supporters who stormed the U.S. Capitol building in an attempt to halt the certification of Joe Biden’s 2020 election win. The riot unfolded following unsubstantiated claims made by former President Donald Trump regarding widespread voter fraud in the election.
Supporters of the Make America Great Again (MAGA) movement expressed their outrage on social media after Baker’s arrest.

Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene, a staunch Trump supporter, criticized the arrest, asserting that “free press is dead in America” when journalists are jailed for refusing to align with the government’s political agenda and lies.
However, some questioned Baker’s journalistic integrity and whether he was merely a bystander during the events. Regardless, Baker’s arrest has ignited debate about the role of journalists and the boundaries of reporting in politically charged situations.
