Academy Of Country Music Exits L-A For Nashville

The Academy of Country Music is officially moving its headquarters from Los Angeles to Nashville.

The Tennessean reports the trade group signed a lease at Nashville Warehouse Company, a recently constructed 5.2-acre office development in Wedgewood-Houston.

"We are excited to officially welcome the Academy of Country Music to Wedgewood-Houston," said Eric Hassberger, president of Adventurous Journeys Capital Partners, the local realty firm that developed the office. "We are honored that they chose Nashville Warehouse Company to be the organization’s first-ever office location in Music City."

The 200,000-square-foot warehouse offers loft-like spaces inside a mass-timber structure. When the development is complete, the campus is set to include a 275-unit residential building, public art instillations and an entertainment lawn, according to a press release.

The Academy of Country Music was founded in Southern California in the 1960s, with a mission of promoting the genre among the western states. From its genesis, the Academy also aimed at supporting West Coast country singers like Merle Haggard, Billy Mize and Glen Campbell.

Since 1966, the group's award show, the ACM Awards, has celebrated industry accomplishments.
