“I am looking forward to it,” said Darnold when Kay announced the news on-air Friday, April 5. “It will be fun to work alongside Kay, La Greca and Rosenberg. I am excited to provide fans a perspective into the game and discuss what I do to prepare for each NFL matchup.”
“We could not be happier about this partnership”, stated Ryan Hurley, 98.7 ESPN program director. “There is a lot of excitement surrounding one of the NFL’s young rising stars and his future. Listeners will not only get an inside look into his week to week journey on the field, but they’ll get to know Sam off the field as another member of the 98.7 Family when he joins Michael, Don and Peter every week.”
The Michael Kay Show airs weekdays on ESPN 98.7FM from 3 p.m. – 7 p.m. ET and is hosted by Michael Kay, Don La Greca and Peter Rosenberg.
Darnold, 21, played college football at USC and was selected third overall by the New York Jets in the 2018 NFL Draft.
Darnold was a two-sport athlete at San Clemente High school, playing football and basketball. Considered a four-star recruit by Rivals.com, Darnold set multiple USC freshman records and led the Trojans to nine consecutive wins that culminated with a victory at the 2017 Rose Bowl.
