ABC News Radio has started the new year with a addition of several high-profile stations.
ABC News Radio will become the primary news source for the capital’s top news station, WTOP/Washington D.C. Hubbard's WTOP will air ABC Radio update on the half-hour and tap their correspondents for two-ways. The station will also air longer-form crisis coverage. According to a source, the ABC commercial inventory is less than its previous network CBS News Radio. WTOP had been an CBS affiliate for the past 80-years.
Another new affiliate is NewsRadio WSB 750 AM and 95.5 FM in Atlanta. The Cox Media Group station will also dedicate one of its reporters to cover Atlanta and the surrounding area for the network.
ABC News Radio has also re-signed WBZ 1030 AM in Boston, now owned by iHeart Media, and WRVA 1140 AM in Richmond, now owned by Entercom/CBS.
ABC also announced its newly launched Urban Suite service picks up major market affiliations: KISS 104.1FM in Atlanta and in Boston both WJMN 94.5 FM and WKMF 97.7 FM.
