California Country KHAY 100.7 FM in Ventura sent many contest winners to the Route 91 Harvest Festival.
The station spent Monday morning checking on its winners. So far, employees have not been able to reach one person.
“It’s a tough day for all of us here because we are a country music radio station and for this event to happen at one of the biggest country concerts in the nation is particularly tragic for us," said Chris Cox, Cumulus Media operations manager.
Cox said the team's number one job is to get ahold of their listeners.
Dave Daniels, KHAY's Morning Wake-Up Call host, started his shift an hour earlier to bring relief to listeners.
“We were able to bring some comfort to people who were finding out about this tragic thing that happened at the Route 91 Harvest Festival, just to connect, and also to get people to interact with the show because we’re one big family," said Daniels.
KEYT-TV3 reportd survivors of the festival called KHAY with their stories and recalled the scary moments during country star Jason Aldean's performance.
