Tred Hulse |
Hulse, who had just returned from vacation, was told of the decision Tuesday morning and was escorted out of the studios of iHeartMedia.
He acknowledged the dismissal on his Facebook page, stating, "I was lucky enough to sit and talk with the late great Bruins radio voice Bob Wilson once and he told me 'give it 20-25 good years Tred, you won't be sorry.' Well, I gave it almost 24. I was let go today at Fox Sports 980. P.S. iHeart haters this is not a pulpit for you to preach. Just wanted people to know."
Via text message, Hulse said he holds no ill will toward the station. "I honestly was thankful for the opportunity to do my own sports radio show after 15 years on the FM music side," he messaged.
The station, affiliated with Fox Sports Radio, aired Doug Gottlieb's national show in Hulse's 3-6 p.m. slot.
An Albany native who was raised in the Berkshires, Hulse, 50, had been at iHeartMedia for 17 years, serving as a drive-time host at WRVE (99.5 FM).
