The station, previously known as “94-9 The Vibe”, was formerly programmed as Classic Hip Hop. Power 94.9 debuted its Top 40 format featuring the biggest hits from today’s hottest artists.
Patrick Reedy, Vice President/Market Manager, Cumulus Media-Salt Lake City said: ”We’re excited to offer a fresh CHR approach to the Salt Lake City market. Although there are some very well-programmed CHR’s in SLC currently, we believe Rick Vaughn’s prior multi-city success in exploiting listeners’ unmet needs within the CHR format speaks for itself. In addition, we also believe that advertisers will find Power 94.9 to be the perfect complement to our sister station B98.7.”
