Beginning in October, WNYC 93.9 FM will make Freakonomics Radio available to the American public radio audience as a weekly one-hour program.
Building on the enthusiasm around previous special radio editions of the show, Freakonomics Radio will air weekends on public radio stations across the country. It will join Radiolab, On the Media, and WNYC’s forthcoming collaboration with The New Yorker as national programs that WNYC will distribute independently to stations beginning this fall.
"Freakonomics has always done one thing incredibly well -- challenge you to examine that space where feelings and information collide,” said Dean Cappello, Chief Content Officer, WNYC. “Each book, each podcast, each blog post is a really fun and thoughtful experience as a result. Public radio listeners and stations have asked for more Freakonomics on the radio since we began producing audio several years ago. We're thrilled to make Freakonomics Radio available every week now as everyone looks for ways to keep radio smart and strong."
Freakonomics Radio, one of the top iTunes-rated podcasts, is hosted by Stephen Dubner, co-author of the acclaimed Freakonomics book series. Along with co-author Steven Levitt, who is a frequent guest, Dubner brings listeners their signature approach of applying economic theory to everything from sleeping better to the upside of quitting to the secret of finding a parking spot.
