Databases used by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) which were supposed to be back online Tuesday, will instead be down through Thursday while undergoing upgrades, according to The Hill.
Several systems used by outside parties to deal with the FCC will be offline and unavailable until 8 a.m. on Thursday, Chief Information Officer David A. Bray said Tuesday.
The Electronic Comment Filing System, which allows parties to file and search through comments to the FCC, was back online on Tuesday. So was the Electronic Document Management System, another database provided by the agency.
Last week, the FCC took many of its systems offline while undergoing upgrades to its information technology infrastructure. That involved transferring the agency’s actual servers to a privately-operated facility.
“Our servers left FCC headquarters in seven moving vans after midnight and arrived safely at the new commercial data center facility early Friday morning,” Bray said.
“While all the data and infrastructure arrived intact, upon arrival we discovered the need for some additional cabling to be done by our commercial partners that took longer than expected,” he said.
