KTRH Morning Host Discloses Cancer Fight

HOUSTON RADIO -- Matt Patrick, who came to Houston in June 2011 and hosts KTRH-740 AM’s morning show with Shara Fryer, has announced that he has esophageal cancer.

Patrick also hosts another show in the mid-afternoon slot on iHeartMedia clustermate KPRC 950 AM.

He went into great length about his fight during a segment with fellow radio host Michael Berry on Berry’s own show on Wednesday.

He announced he has a malignant tumor in his esophagus that he’s getting treatment for, at first, during his own morning show “Houston’s Morning News with Matt Patrick" before sitting down with Berry.

Patrick expressed gratitude that he lives in a city with something as formidable as the Texas Medical Center so close by.

Patrick  replaced longtime morning hosts Lana Hughes and J.P. Pritchard, a duo for 27 years, four years ago this summer. He’s also heard in Dallas on iHM's KFXR 1190 AM.
