D-C Radio: 'The Man Cave' Finally Launches On WTEM

After a two-week delay, a new sports talk show featuring Washington Post columnist Jason Reid debuted Monday on WTEM 980 AM, WWXT 92.7 FM and WWXX 94.3 FM / ESPN 980 in Washington - a station owned by Redskins owner Dan Snyder.

The delay was reportedly caused by high-ranking Redskins officials wanting to pull the plug on the show - Reid has been critical of the team and Snyder in his newspaper columns.

According to richmond.com, Reid said during Monday's show he didn't think the program, titled "The Man Cave," would ever make it to the airwaves.

His co-host, DC radio veteran Chris Paul, addressed the controversy in song. Paul, a stand-up comedian who previously worked on "The Tom Joyner Morning Show," copied the tune of the theme song from "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air."

Neither said directly that Snyder was responsible for the original cancellation of the show. Reports said it was team president Bruce Allen who was angered that the team had hired Reid to work in-house - Allen deflected questions about the controversy at the NFL owners' meetings.

The station has previously touted that its anchors are allowed to hold any opinion they want about the team and its owner.
