"WBT will not be renewing its employment agreement with Tara Servatius," said Heidi Raphael, vice president of corporate communication for Massachusetts-based Greater Media, which owns the station.
"We are grateful for Tara's contributions to the station, and we wish her the best," she said in a statement released Thursday night.
Servatius joined WBT as a late-night host in June 2007. She replaced Jeff Katz in the afternoon slot when he was abruptly terminated in December 2008.
Servatius was called into a meeting with WBT management after the end of her Thursday show and told that she would not be returning to the microphone.
"It was a great five years at WBT," Servatius said Thursday night.
"I met some wonderful people. Greater Media is a business and they made a business decision. I wish them the best." Servatius, a longtime columnist for Charlotte's weekly Creative Loafing, gradually became a presence at WBT, first as a guest then filling in on shifts when hosts were off.

TomzTake: PPMs have not been kind to WBT, which has not announced replacement programming.
she was awful....glad to see her go!
ReplyDeleteGiuseppe Scrittore On Friday morning, Aug. 7th, I heard a SC radio personality all but cheer-leading for Zachary Hammond as she, Tara Servatius of WORD FM 106.3 repeatedly made light of the official story stating that there is no way he could have been in danger if bullets entered Hammond from the side of rear, which is what she thinks autopsy photos indicate. She was taken to task for her cop-hating by many listeners. Cop-Hating is NEVER acceptable.
DeleteWould love to have Jason Lewis back at 3.
ReplyDeleteTara is the best investigative reporter, I will miss her on WBT.
ReplyDeleteSteve P.
Tara pitted people against one another. She could not respect the opinions of others if they differed from hers. She is hateful and tried her best to discredit anyone who worked in the public sector, regardless of thier title or job.
ReplyDeleteWish they would move John Hancock into this drive home slot.
ReplyDeleteThey just did
DeleteUnfortunately Charlotte has a large Liberal populuation. I greatly appreciate WBT's willingness to expose the Liberal Charlotte population to some Conservative ideas put forth by some of your Radio Personalities. I believe WBT provides a balanced presentation from both Political Parties. Also unfortunately, alot of the Liberal Population that listens to WBT, can't debate the an issue with out calling it hateful or racial. We can chose to disagree without labeling a person as hateful or racist. I salute Tara for her willingness to talk about issues she knew would cause WBT management to receive complaints. She discussed issues that most of the Charlotte Liberal Politicians would liked to have kept quite. I didn't always agree with her, but very much liked listening to her on my drive home. I sure the liberals are glad your gone, but I will miss you!
ReplyDeleteTara will be missed. She would always uncover stories that nobody else would dare to even mention.
ReplyDeleteI can't imagine what she would have been fired for. I enjoyed the valuable information she gave and I believe that the ruling class of Charlotte are on the wrong path. We know it was the Liberal Ruling class that did this. They soon will be without people to pay taxes to support their spending.
ReplyDeleteTara's show was very informative and I enjoyed listening. I came to Charlotte 6 years ago and I do believe that many of the issues that were on the show should have been aired. Now where are we going to learn about the secrets of the goverment plans, schools, etc. I feel let down and I wish she comes back soon.
ReplyDeleteWe need more people like Tara. What were they thinking. I miss the show
ReplyDeleteI will miss Tara, although I thought that WBT over produced and massaged here presentation and then cut here when their efforts fail them selves.
ReplyDeleteSo glad to see her go.she's has a very annoying voice that makes me barf.
ReplyDeleteShe was never a nice person to anyone who disagreed with her.
Put her back in Creative Loafing where I don't have to listen to her....cause I don't read that trash paper either.
WBT got rid of the wrong host...fire John Hancock. He is terrible. I turn my radio off when I hear his voice.
ReplyDeleteBring back Jeff Katz to Charlotte.
Tara searched for and exposed truths, which is offensive to many people.
ReplyDeleteWe LOVED Tara. Told the truth and maybe some people did not want to hear that. There will be a big hole now in that time slot.
ReplyDeleteTara was a class act. She was fact-based, and analytical in her approach to every story and issue. She was courageous and a truly investigative journalist. WBT can't handle the truth, and that's why she's gone, and a milquetoast liberal hack like Al Gardner, a closet liberal like Keith Larson, and talentless bore like John Hancock remain. If Rush Limbaugh's presence didn't contribute significantly to paying their light bills, he'd be gone as well. Tara's dismissal was the last straw for me. WBT is a lost cause and will see more and more listeners abandon them, as they've abandoned truth and reality.
ReplyDeleteWHEN WILL WBT GROW A BACK BONE AND STOP BOWING TO THE POLITICALLY CORRECT LEFT?
ReplyDeleteGlad to see any one that has murder & Mayhem commercials gone of the air. We do not need it or her!!!
ReplyDeleteO
ReplyDeleteI love her. I love her hate
