Chicago Radio: Listeners Hug The Mix During Diaper Drive

On Saturday, June 7, The Morning Mix, in partnership with Huggies, hosted a community diaper drive in the parking lot of the Walmart Supercenter in St. Charles.

The event aimed to raise awareness of a critical local issue:

1 in 2 Chicago-area families with young children struggle to afford enough diapers to keep their babies clean, dry, and healthy*.As part of a month-long campaign, Morning Mix hosts Chris Petlak, Nikki Chuminatto, and Whip invited listeners to stop by and donate diapers to benefit families in need.

With Huggies generously matching every donation received, the community answered the call in a big way — resulting in a donation of 150,000 diapers to support Share Our Spare, a Chicago-based nonprofit dedicated to providing essential items to children age 0–5.

“This diaper drive has been incredibly meaningful to our mission to ensure our youngest neighbors’ basic needs are met,” said Alex Goodfellow, Executive Director of Share Our Spare.

“We’ve been able to raise awareness about the dire need for diapers in our city, and with the help of hundreds of generous Chicagoans, more than 1,500 children will have the diapers they need to stay clean, healthy, and dry next month.”

“Local radio has the unique ability to rally people around a cause that truly matters,” said Chris Eagan, VicePresident of Brand and Content for The Mix and Throwback 100.3. “We’re incredibly proud of our Morning Mixteam, our partners at Huggies, and — most of all — our listeners who showed up in a big way to support Chicago families. This is what community impact looks like.”
