Bloomington Radio: Cumulus Stations Raise $103K+ During Radiothon

Cumulus Media announces that Cumulus Bloomington, IL, radio stations 101.5 WBNQ/WBNQ-FM (CHR), B104/WBWN-FM (Country), and WJBC AM 1230 and FM 102.1/WJBC-AM (News/Talk) and listeners joined forces to raise $103,739 for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital through its annual two-day Cumulus Cares for St. Jude Kids Radiothon.

The successful fundraising event was held on-air and online on Thursday, February 8th and Friday, February 9th to support the lifesaving mission of St. Jude that no child should die in the dawn of life.

All funds raised during the event go directly to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and will support St. Jude patients and families who never receive a bill from St. Jude for the cost of treatment, travel, housing, or food. At St. Jude, no child is denied treatment based on race, religion, or a family’s ability to pay. Since St. Jude opened its doors in 1962, the survival rate for childhood cancer has risen from 20% to more than 80% today.

Dana Bell, Director of Non-Traditional Revenue, Cumulus Bloomington, said: “We are very grateful to our sponsors and our listeners for their support in making this event such a success. We truly could not do it without all of them. Many families throughout Central Illinois have been touched by the work of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. We’re so grateful we are able to give back to an organization that makes lifesaving differences locally, nationally, and worldwide.”

Cumulus Bloomington on-air hosts including Susan Saunders and Cody West on 101.5 WBNQ, Faith Rinker and Buck Stevens on B104/WBWN, and Scott Miller, Neil Doyle, and Blake Hass on WJBC broadcasted live in-studio, with special guests, interviews and more to support the kids of St. Jude.

Joining Cumulus Bloomington in this annual effort for kids were Presenting Sponsors O’Brien Auto Team of Bloomington-Normal and Four Seasons Health Club.
