Sen. J.D. Vance (R-OH) suggested presidential candidate Nikki Haley has her own “baggage” that the media hasn’t yet highlighted, according to the Washington Examiner.
Vance appeared on Fox News Sunday to discuss who has the edge between Haley and former President Donald Trump. The Ohio senator has already endorsed Trump, following the former president’s endorsement of Vance’s senatorial run in 2022. According to Vance, Haley has given no evidence that she has the same “political resilience” as Trump.
“Nikki does have baggage. She just hasn’t faced the onslaught of years of media attacks, of super PAC attacks that Donald Trump has faced. And frankly, the fact that Trump is still standing and still leading the polls against Joe Biden suggests he has real political resilience,” Vance said.
“I know a lot of people who are choosing Nikki Haley think she’s the low baggage candidate,” Vance went on. “In reality, she’s the candidate the Democrats haven’t teed off on, but they will tee off on her if she’s the nominee. She won’t be, but if she is, she will face exactly what Donald Trump has faced for the past six years, and I don’t think she’ll survive it.”

Haley lost the Iowa Caucus to Trump last week. The next and first primary in the nation on Tuesday will come out of New Hampshire.
A new CNN poll, taken Jan. 16-19, showed Trump regained a double-digit lead at 11 percentage points over Haley.
