R.I.P.: Larry Thompson of KS95 Staci and Moon Fame

Larry 'Moon' Thompson (1959-2024)

Larry 'Moon' Thompson, of KS95 'Staci and Moon' fame, dies after long MS battle. He was 65, according to Bring Me The News website.

The radio station shared the news on social media Thursday, calling for those to share their tributes and memories using the hashtag #RememberingMoon.

He previously co-hosted afternoons with Staci Matthews on the "Moon and Staci Show" from 2002 to 2019. That's when Moon announced he would be stepping away from the radio booth due to increased complications from MS, a disease he was diagnosed with in 2005.

"Sometimes in life you don't get to choose what goes on and my health is now making my decisions for me," Moon said when he shocked listeners with his announcement on Aug. 3, 2019.

"For the last 14 years this thing has taken things away from me that I love. Like dancing with my wife, and playing with my kids and stuff. It's made a mess of things. But I just kept coming back, and I got to play radio star. And I'm so damn glad I did."

His final radio show was held in October 2019.

Greg "Hutch" Hutchinson replaced Moon, transitioning it to the "Staci and Hutch" show ever since. Hutchinson posted on Instagram Thursday morning, honoring his friend

Prior to working at the Hubbard Broadcasting station, Moon worked at stations in Nebraska, Las Vegas and Houston. His radio career spanned 45 years, KSTP reports.
