It has been more than a year since Audacy announced that ratings powerhouse Angelo Cataldi plans to retire at the end of 2022 as host of the morning drive program at SportsRadio 94WIP — his professional home for the past 34 years. The 71-year-old sports talker has been doing farewell interviews with various media outlets and there's just a little more than two months left in the year, but no replacement has been named.
The Philly Business Journal reports that's about to change, with Cataldi teasing that his successor will be named Thursday during his show.

Philadelphia-based Audacy said Cataldi plans to stay on board until the end of the Eagles season. That means his tenure could extend until early February if the undefeated Eagles reach the Super Bowl.
Ray Mayo of Conshohocken’s Mayo Seitz Media said Audacy was likely under some pressure to make a decision now because most advertisers will spend the fourth quarter thinking about how they'll spend their advertising budgets for 2023.
“In the Philadelphia media landscape, you have a lot of options,” Mayo said. “And without Angelo and maybe without knowing who's going to be there in the future, you certainly evaluate those options.”
