Suspect Richard Green |
Baltimore police said they obtained an arrest warrant for the suspect involved in the slaying of a local gospel radio host.
WBAL-TV11 reports 56-year-old Richard Sylvester Green, 56, is wanted for the killing of 57-year-old Tyra Womack Wednesday night.
Womack was featured every Sunday on WEAA 88.9 FM's flagship show, Gospel Grace Afternoon. Womack's family told 11 News she was protecting her son when she was fatally shot.
"This was a senseless, tragic murder, as many are, and it appears to have stemmed from a neighbor dispute. Investigators began receiving information almost immediately and have identified a person of interest," a BPD spokesperson said in a statement Thursday.
Baltimore police said Womack was killed steps away from where she called home for years.
Courtney Scott, the victim's sister, revealed to 11 News what she calls years of alleged harassment at the hands of Womack's next door neighbor.

"They've been in and out of court. Police have came,” said Scott.
Scott said the night her sister was killed, she had just returned home from an evening walk.
That's when Scott told 11 News the suspect, out of nowhere, began firing shots at the victim's son, who was waiting for his mother on the front porch.
"In my mind, he wanted to hurt my sister and kill her one and only son,” said Scott.
Womack’s son wasn’t hit, however she was struck multiple times.
Womack was remembered for her decades-long work as a radio host at WEAA-FM, stationed at Morgan State University’s School of Global Journalism and Communication. She was featured every Sunday on its flagship show, Gospel Grace Afternoon.
Her radio colleagues paid tribute to her memory.
"It wasn't that she just played the music. She was also a believer,” said Dr. Kaye Whitehead, a fellow radio host at WEAA-FM.
