The morning show on Country WNCY Y100.3 FM is new but the voices are familiar.
Randy “Shotgun” Shannon joined Charli McKenzie for Monday’s debut of the new morning team from 5 to 9 a.m. weekdays.
According to the Green Bay Press-Gazette, McKenzie had been anchoring the slot for the last 12 years with Bear, who retired at the end of June. Shannon, whose time at the Green Bay-Appleton country music station dates back to the ’90s, has moved over from the 9 a.m.-to-noon slot he’s held since early 2016.
The two have known each other since 2005 when Shotgun, who spent 10 years as Y100 program director, hired her. That makes for an easygoing on-air chemistry, he said.
“It’s going to be kind of like doing a show with my wife. Charli yells at me all the time and tells me what to do,” he said, joking.
Their dynamic will change things up, he said, but certain features that listeners have grown to love, like the show's dedication to the military, won’t be going anywhere. Other things that have perhaps run their course will be shelved and new components introduced, he said.

“Charli is the star of the show, hands down, but I’m going to be the one who talks first (after songs),” he said.
