The Boston office of Oakland, Calif.-based Internet radio giant Pandora will grow over the next year as the company ramps up its mobile marketing business, according to Steven Kritzman, the company's senior vice president of sales.
The Boston Business Journal reports Pandora's Boston office in the Prudential Tower employs 15 people who primarily work in sales and client services. The office will be hiring "aggressively" over the next year, but Kritzman wouldn't disclose specific hiring numbers.
"We're going to invest aggressively in the (Boston) market," said Kritzman, who grew up in Sharon and now works out of Pandora's offices in New York City.
Much of the Boston office's growth over the next year can be attributed to Pandora's growing mobile marketing business, with local clients including Boston University, Framingham-based TJX Corp., Canton-based Reebok and Canton-based Dunkin' Donuts.
Mobile currently represents 84 percent of listening hours on Pandora, which presents a huge opportunity to ramp up the number of clients willing to advertise on Pandora's mobile app, Kritzman said.
Pandora CEO Brian McAndrews said in a recent quarterly earnings call that mobile advertising now accounts for 78 percent of Pandora's total ad revenue.
