Lake County Radio: Flood Waters Encircle NextMedia

Areas of the Midwest continue to deal with the effects  of serious flooding last week, including at least one radio cluster.

NextMedia bulding that houses Hot AC WXLC 102.3 FM and WKRS ESPN Deportes 1220 AM  in Waukegan, IL, just north of Chicago, was surrounded by a waist-deep ‘lake’.

GM Karl Wertzler reports, "Throughout the mess, many of the staff members stayed in the building to lend a hand with bailing and sandbagging and the efforts paid off. WXLC remained on the air while Deportes was down for only a brief period of time."

Fortunately, only WKRS was off-air of a short-time.
