Raleigh Radio: Joe Johnson Gets PD Position At WRDU

iHeartMedia/Raleigh has announced  that Joe Johnson has been named Program Director and Afternoon Drive On-Air Personality for Classic Rock WRDU 100.7 FM, effective September 24.

As Program Director, Johnson will work closely with on-air personalities and the sales team to oversee on-air, digital and music programming integrations for the radio station and their local events. Listeners will also hear Johnson weekday afternoons from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. on the station.

He will report to Chris Edge, Area Senior Vice President of Programming for iHeartMedia Raleigh and Greensboro Markets.

“Joe’s knowledge of the format and understanding of the rock lifestyle made him a great choice,” said Edge. “I’m looking forward to having Joe work with our morning show Woody and Wilcox and lead WRDU programming for many years to come.”

Johnson joins iHeartMedia Raleigh from WROV Roanoke-Lynchburg where he most recently served as the Program Director and Afternoon Drive On-Air Personality for the past seven years. He began his career at WXTB-FM and is a graduate of the University of Florida.
