Laura Owens, 35, daughter of longtime Bay Area KGO radio host Ronn Owens, was indicted this week on seven new felony charges in Maricopa County, Arizona for allegedly faking a pregnancy with an unidentified man in 2021 — three years before her high-profile case involving The Bachelor star Clayton Echard.
Prosecutors allege Owens committed fraud, forgery, identity theft, perjury, and theft by falsifying pregnancy documents after the man ended their brief relationship following a third date. Authorities say she fabricated medical evidence to support her claim of being pregnant by him — mirroring tactics used in the later Echard case.
Owens already faces trial in January 2026 for allegedly faking a twin pregnancy with Echard in 2023. In that case, she claimed a miscarriage but is accused of doctoring an ultrasound image. Echard has denied paternity, stating their encounters never involved intercourse.
The new indictment brings Owens’s total felony charges to over a dozen across two cases.Laura Owens lives with her parents — veteran KGO radio host Ronn Owens and former KCBS anchor Jan Black — in a $1.5 million Scottsdale home. The couple filed for bankruptcy in August 2025, seven months after raising more than $131,000 through an online fundraiser.
