R.I.P.: Atlanta's Cadillac Jack

Cadillac Jack
Atlanta radio personality William Choate, known as Cadillac Jack, has died of an apparent heart attack. He was 51.

Choate, a prominent figure in Atlanta’s country music radio scene, had a nearly three-decade career, most notably as a morning host at Kicks 101.5 (WKHX-FM) from 2006 until his termination in 2019. He later hosted afternoons and mornings at 92.5 The Bear (WEKS-FM) starting in 2021, with his wife, Donna Choate, joining him as co-host in 2023.

Choate faced significant challenges, including a heart attack in 2017, which required emergency surgery and three stents. He returned to broadcasting after recovery but spoke of the psychological toll, including fear and emotional strain. In 2019, he was fired from Kicks 101.5, leading to a lawsuit against Cumulus Media, alleging wrongful termination due to discrimination over his bisexuality. The lawsuit was dismissed in 2022.

After his departure, he launched the podcast Cadillac Jack: My Second Act with Donna, focusing on current events, parenting, and country music.

  1. I listened to Caddy for nearly 20+ years. I even got to meet him once long ago. I loved hearing him and Dallas on Kicks. I'm sad that he is gone, from his family and friends. I hope he will finally find peace in heaven. R.I.P. Caddy You will be missed.
