R.I.P.: Tom Kraeutler, Host The Syndicated Money Pit Show

Tom Kraeutler (1960-2025)

Tom Kraeutler, renowned author, home improvement expert, and host of the "Money Pit" radio show, passed away on Sunday, February 2, due to complications from surgery.

Kraeutler was not only a skilled craftsman and educator but also served as the first chair of New Jersey's regulatory body for licensing home inspectors. His radio show aired on 462 stations, and he amassed a wealth of home improvement knowledge through MoneyPit.com and the most popular podcast in its genre. He was a frequent guest on networks like Fox News Channel, CNN, MSNBC, The History Channel, HGTV, and DIY Network, and contributed to numerous publications including House Beautiful, Smart Money, and Reader's Digest.

Together with Leslie Segrete, he wrote "My Home My Money Pit: Your Guide to Every Home Improvement Adventure," and in 2024, Wiley published his book "Home Maintenance for Dummies." Segrete, who co-hosted the radio show with Kraeutler for over 20 years, shared, "When my kids were born, Tom was there in the hospital. When my husband died, he held my hand and got me back to work. He was way more than just a friend and coworker. He was family."

Kraeutler leaves behind his wife, Susan, and their children, Thomas, Sara, and Trevor. As his production company, Squeaky Door Productions, considers future plans, the "Money Pit" radio show will continue with Leslie Segrete as co-host.
