Cumulus Media’s New Country 96.3 KSCS-FM morning show, Hawkeye in the Morning, concluded the Fourth Annual “10,000 for the Troops” holiday card drive to send warm, hopeful wishes to the brave men and women serving the U.S. Armed Forces overseas this holiday season.
The DFW radio station has partnered with Support Our Soldiers, a local 501(c)(3) organization based in Fort Worth, TX, to send the holiday cards to “high risk” units/individuals that are either in isolated areas or do not have support coming from home. This year’s campaign collected 106,322 cards, with more expected to arrive in the mail over the next week. The cards will be included in care packages sent to the troops by Support Our Soldiers, just in time for Christmas.
The campaign kicked off October 24, 2022, with the goal of collecting 10,000 cards. Listeners and supporters were able to mail cards to New Country 96.3 or deliver them to the T-Mobile Experience Store in Southlake or Plano, Texas, or any of the Dallas/Fort Worth Gigi’s Cupcakes, Sun & Ski Sports locations and select Kroger Stores in partnership with Community Coffee.
Hawkeye in the Morning and New Country 96.3 concluded the program with a live broadcast on the radio station’s plaza, where fans from across DFW and busloads of schools stopped by to drop off their cards for the troops. Community Coffee provided free coffee to everyone who stopped by.
Hawkeye, Host of Hawkeye in the Morning, said: "My co-host Michelle Rodriguez and I were overwhelmed by the tremendous support for U.S. service members stationed overseas. We never imagined that we would collect 10 times as many cards as we hoped for – and we thank our amazing listeners and partners for their help in making the holidays brighter for our service men and women."
