Houston Radio: Charlie Pallilo EXITS Sports KFNC

Talk show host Charlie Pallilo said Tuesday he is no longer with KFNC 97.5/92.5 FM, the fourth station for which he has worked during a career that spans the history of all-sports radio in Houston, reports The Chronicle.

“The classic summary is that (the station) is going in a different direction,” Pallilo said. “David Gow (president of Gow Media, which owns KFNC)) has always been great, and we’re on amicable terms. But whatever factor goes into decision-making, it’s their decision to make.”

Pallilo, a graduate of Syracuse University, came to Houston in 1989 as a reporter and talk show host at KTRH (740 AM), where he co-hosted the weeknight “SportsBeat” program.

He moved in 1999 to KILT 610 AM, the city’s first full-time sports talk station, and remained there until 2005, when he was hired at KBME 790 AM as the station switched formats from easy listening music to all-sports.

Pallilo was released by KBME in 2016 and, after a year off the air, joined KFNC in 2017 as a midday host. He also contributed to Gow Media’s Sportsmap.com website.

As for future plans, Pallilo said is prepared to “let the dust settle” before contemplating his next move.

“I’m not giddy about this, but I’m not distraught,” he said. “I can look forward to see what makes sense or might be fun or available, and that doesn’t preclude Gow Media.”
