The 44-year-old West Des Moines man was stopped on the right shoulder of I-80 near mile marker 140 about 9:45 a.m., according to a news release from the Iowa State Patrol. After exiting his 1996 Ford Explorer, he was struck by a passing semi driven by Terry Peters, 67, of Fairfield.
