On Friday October 12, WMVP ESPN 1000 Chicago will celebrate its 20th anniversary with a “Fanniversary” event honoring 20 years to the date (October 12, 1998)
ESPN1000 went on the air as the flagship owned station for ESPN Audio.
The “Fanniversary” event will located at Austin’s Fuel Room in Libertyville, Ill., where ESPN1000 will be broadcasting from the entire day. The event will include a live broadcast of Golic & Wingo (5 a.m. – 9 a.m. CT), Kap & Co. (9 a.m. – noon), Carmen & Jurko (noon – 2 p.m.) and Waddle & Silvy (2 p.m. – 6 p.m.).
“ESPN 1000 has provided Chicago sports fans with an outlet for listening to, sharing and experiencing every top Chicago sports story for the past twenty years, said Jim Pastor, Vice President and General Manager of ESPN1000 Chicago. “We gave them a front row seat during championship runs by the Blackhawks, Cubs, White Sox and Bulls and we introduced them to new voices who would become part of their daily routine. It’s a great source of pride knowing the role we play in keeping Chicago sports fans informed and entertained.”
The anniversary celebration will feature several on-site guests, including longtime Waddle & Silvy friends, along with ESPN peers. ESPN1000 Chicago will reminisce about various milestones from the last 20 years on air. Attendees to this special broadcast is open to the public and includes special guests. Fans who are present at the location can win “MVP” passes, which allows fans or listeners to become a part of the “MVP” section.
