Tallahassee Radio: Greg Tish Lands Mornings At Talk WVFT

Greg Tish
Conservative radio station WVFT Real Talk 93.3 is swapping one "Greg" for another.

According to tallahassee.com, Greg Tish, a partially retired DJ,  is the new morning talk show host airing from 6 to 9 a.m. weekdays after the station decided not to renew Greg Marr Jr.'s contract.

The "Real Mornings with Greg Tish and Bobby Mac" won't be saturated with political commentary — a stark contrast to the "Voice of Freedom Today" show that elevated Marr's radio fame.

"It’s going to be a fun, entertaining morning show,” Tish said. "There’s not a morning show that focuses exclusively on Tallahassee in this town.”

Tish describes his political views as "down the middle." He later added that he leans slightly to the right.

The new show is an opportunity to spotlight all things Tallahassee, from historical facts, local legends, an evolving landscape and entertainment. With Tallahassee being Florida's capital, Tish said there will be some political talk but it won't dominate the airtime.

Tish is leaving his day job at the Florida Sheriff's Association, where he held several positions in the last 19 years. His first day on the air will be Monday, Oct. 1.

He'll be a familiar voice to loyal listeners. Tish was the weekly hour-long "break from politics" every Friday on Marr's former show, the "Voice of Freedom Today." Tish also hosted a 30-minute weekend show for the station.

On Sept. 17, the station posted on Facebook its decision to part ways with Marr, which was later taken down after it touched off a steady stream of posts from vexed listeners.

Station Manager Jon Jopling said the new show will emphasize a different side of conservative talk radio.
