Frank Gottlieb |
Mr. Gottlieb, 72, of Greenfield, recently had been sick with the flu, according to the Post-Gazette.
A native of Midland, Beaver County, Mr. Gottlieb retired as news director at KQV 1410 AM five years ago. He joined all-news KQV (“You give us 22 minutes, we’ll give you the world”) in 1985 and became its news director in 1993.
“He was a journalist,” said Bob Dickey, Jr., KQV general manager, adding that Mr. Gottlieb was committed to reporting the news as it was, without agenda. “He wasn’t back there to make friends, he was there to get the job done and gained a lot of respect doing it.”
Mr. Gottlieb, a Duquesne University alum and Vietnam War Army veteran, also served as news producer at WTAE-TV and WCMH-TV in Columbus, Ohio, and was a news writer at KDKA-TV and Pittsburgh CBS Local.
In the service, he was a part of the Armed Forces Radio and began his career locally at WAMO-FM.
