Evening Sports talk host Joe DeCamara is out at WPEN 97.5 FM The Fanatic, accoriding to reports.
According to philly.com, its sources confirmed Crossing Broad's report that DeCamara left the station, but could not immediately corroborate why the longtime host abruptly decided to depart. By Tuesday afternoon, the Fanatic had removed all mentions of DeCamara from their website.
The Joe DeCamara Show had been airing from 6 to 10 p.m. weekdays since April 2015. Matt Lombardo hosted Tuesday night from 6 to 8 p.m., but no permanent changes have been announced.
His exit is another blow to a station that has had a rough few months.
In June the Fanatic's parent company, Greater Media, laid off 19 staffers across its 21 local radio stations. While WMMR 93.3 was hit the hardest, the Fanatic lost 3 staffers and reduced the amount of live broadcast time during the weekend.
In July, Beasley Broadcast Group bought Greater Media in a $240 million deal, and announced in investor meetings it plans to save $1.9 million a year at its four stations in Philadelphia "primarily by headcount," but also a bit of belt-tightening and some renegotiated contracts.
