Gaenzler joins current morning show team members Rob Lederman, Christine Klein and producer, Steve Tripi. He steps into the role following the retirement of morning radio legend, Larry Norton, whose last show on WGRF/97 Rock airs on Friday, December 4, from 6:00 a.m.-10:00 a.m.
Gaenzler comes to WGRF from sister stations, Rock Radio WEDG 103.3 The Edge, where he hosts the 3:00 p.m.-7:00 show, and from Sports WHLD 1270 AM The Fan), where he hosts a daily sports talk show from 12:00 p.m.-3:00 p.m.
He started his radio career at WCMF in Rochester, NY, in 1988, as a production intern for Larry Norton.
Prior to joining WEDG almost 18 years ago, he was at WCMF 990 AM, where he did news/sports/traffic for “Brother Wease” and later produced the show. Gaenzler was also Buffalo Bandits in-game announcer for 10 years, and co-hosted the Brian Moorman Show on Time Warner Cable, before hosting “Rich Gaenzler’s Football Rap” for two years.
John Hager, Program Director of WGRF 97 Rock said: “Replacing a local legend such as Larry Norton is never easy. We were fortunate to have a talented veteran broadcaster inside our cluster that we could comfortably move to 97 Rock’s morning show. Rich Gaenzler has a unique radio background and with his rock and sports experiences, is a perfect fit for our listeners.”
