Paul Finebaum |
On Friday, Paul Finebaum was back on the air as a guest at
sports-talk station WJOX 94.5 FM for the first time since he left the station
when his contract there expired on Jan. 21.
Finebaum, who has agreed to a new, five-year deal with ESPN
to carry his radio show, appeared on his old station as a guest on Friday's edition
of "The JOX Roundtable" with Jim Dunaway, Ryan Brown and Lance
Taylor.
According to al.com, he is expected to return for good when
WJOX begins carrying his new ESPN Radio show, which will most likely begin Aug.
12.
Although WJOX has yet to officially announce it will carry
Finebaum's new ESPN Radio show when it begins next month, his appearance on the
station Friday should remove all doubt.
"Unfortunately, this has taken a while to get to this
point in terms of trying to get some clarification," Finebaum told AL.com.
"But I think it's pretty obvious by my presence tomorrow where this is
going."
Finebaum's new show will originate out of Charlotte , where ESPN is building a studio to
house the show. Pat Smith, the longtime director of "The Paul Finebaum
Radio Network," will continue as Finebaum's program director.
