It may have been around since 1974, but the station formerly
known as WJJG now is getting a facelift, starting with some famous call
letters: WCKG.
According to a story at mysuburbanlife.com, when General
Manager Matt Dubiel took over the Elmhurst
station in October 2011, he set out to develop a fresh direction.
With more than 2.8 million people within the WCKG 1530 signal (760 watts-daytime only), and 30,000 online listeners per month, Dubiel realized the station had
a niche it needed to focus on — the suburbs….
With WCKG one of the few stations based inside DuPage County ,
Dubiel sees its advantages: location, listeners and a need for something local
and relevant. Dubiel is still fine-tuning the big changes.
From a possible new location to brand new shows, he says
WCKG aims to cater to area businesses and suburban listeners.
WCKG’s line-up includes Mancow Muller mornings, Dan Patrick
and local talent including Geoff Pinckus.
This station is a joke! The most unprofessional program director cant sell commercials so they just let an endless loop of the same 3 or 4 commercials run over and over and over. Or,....just rerun the same show day after day after day.
ReplyDeleteGive it a rest, 1530! Turn in your license and cease to exist. Ever since summer of 2011, it has been nothingbut repetitive crap. Your signal became much harder to listen to. When it was WJJG, before the Mancow/Savage crap, I had a decent signal in the Palos area. Now, I have to be on the other side of 55/Des Plaines River to get it. Yes, this station is a joke. A very unfunnny one. No matter you do, 1530, you won't win over listeners. Unprofessional is right also. Terrible treatment of a once great station.
