Tom Roeser, Chicago conservative icon, dies at 82
Tom Roeser, a Chicago conservative broadcaster and writer, passed away on Sunday, May 29, 2011.
According to a story by Scott Paulson at examiner.com, Roeser was a broadcaster at WLS-AM 890 talk radio for the last 17 years and just retired from the radio station two weeks ago. In recent months, he has been in and out of the hospital with heart concerns.
He founded Project LEAP, an organization designed to avoid voter fraud, as well as being active in many Catholic, political, and civic Chicago organizations. Among his credits is the founding of the Chicago Daily Observer. U.S. Sen. Mark Kirk from Illinois remembered Roeser as “Mr. Conservative Republican in Illinois.”
Prior to media work, Roeser served in the U.S. Government, was a vice president of the Quaker Oats Company, and taught at numerous colleges and universities.

Tom Roeser was a valued member of the WLS on-air lineup for 17 years. He was heard primarily in his regular Sunday night slot where listeners could participate in his radio ‘plebiscites’, weighing in on the political issues of the week past, and looking forward to the week ahead. He was devoted to his principles and stalwart in his advocacy, respected by friend and foe alike. WLS sends condolences to his wife Lillian, and to their children. He will be missed.
