Billboard Promotes Leila Cobo and Jason Lipshutz

Lipshutz and Cobo

Penske Media Corporation has promoted Leila Cobo and Jason Lipshutz to co-chief content officers of Billboard, the influential global music publication announced on Tuesday, January 20, 2026.

The duo will share leadership of the brand's entire editorial content strategy and day-to-day newsroom operations. This leadership change follows the recent departure of former editorial director Hannah Karp, who was named executive vice president and chief communications officer at Warner Music Group.

Both Cobo and Lipshutz are long-time Billboard veterans with deep expertise across major segments of the music industry.

Leila Cobo, previously chief content officer of Billboard Latin (and a widely respected authority on Latin music), will continue leading Latin coverage while expanding oversight to include Country music.

Jason Lipshutz, who served as executive director of music, will maintain direction of Pop while adding responsibility for Rock, Hip-Hop, and Dance/Electronic genres.

In their new co-CCO roles, Cobo and Lipshutz will jointly guide Billboard's signature franchises and events — including Women in Music, Latin Music Week, The Stage programming at SXSW, and other high-profile initiatives — ensuring continued authority in music journalism, charts, analysis, and industry reporting.

The promotions reflect Billboard's commitment to specialized leadership in an evolving music landscape, where genre-specific expertise drives both coverage and audience engagement for the Penske Media-owned brand.
