Audacy’s 92.3 KGON (KGON-FM) in Portland celebrates its 50th anniversary on Thursday, February 1 by amplifying the voices and music home to its airwaves. I wanted to share this milestone with you for coverage consideration as 92.3 KGON joins legendary stations, including Audacy’s 99.9 KISW (KISW-FM) in Seattle, 93XRT (WXRT-FM) in Chicago and 96.5 WCMF (WCMF-FM) in Rochester as one of the few rock stations nationwide to hit the half-century mark.
The station will launch a specialty website packed with a merchandise museum, photos, videos and interviews with former talent, including Mark Thompson of the “Mark & Brian Show,” Iris Harrison, Dave Scott and Marty Party.

Since airing for the first time with The Beatles’ “Here Comes the Sun” in 1974, 92.3 KGON has become one of the most listened-to rock stations in the Portland area, garnering a weekly average of 300,000 listeners across southwest Washington and northwest Oregon.
The station is accepting memories and messages from listeners via voicemail at (458) 237-7972 to feature during its full day of anniversary programming.\
