Pierre Robert, a staple at rock station 93.3 WMMR-FM for over four decades, has signed what parent company Beasley Broadcast Group called a multiyear contract extension to continue hosting his mid-day show.
The Philadelphia Business Journal reports the extension was announced on air by WMMR’s outgoing program director Bill Weston, and confirmed by Beasley's Philadelphia market manager Joe Bell.
Robert has worked at the station since 1981 and is one of the most recognized media personalities in Philadelphia. The disc jockey last signed an extension in 2021 and another prior to that in 2019, a sign that the most recent deals have been in two-year increments.Robert worked mornings and the overnight shift before settling into the midday slot — now 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. after the top-rated "Preston & Steve" morning show.
Robert’s show, which starts with his "Greetings Citizens" salutation, is known for playing classic vinyl records and offering rock history lessons, artist interviews and live in-studio performances. A popular feature is Work Force Blocks, where he plays three- to four-song blocks of a particular artist based on listener requests.
With Robert back in the fold, WMMR has the core of its on-air team under contract. It signed new deals with Preston & Steve in 2022.
In addition to WMMR, Naples, Florida-based Beasley also operates classic rock station 102.9 WMGK-FM, country station 92.5 XTU (WXTU-FM), pop station 95.7 BEN-FM, sports talk station 97.5 The Fanatic (WPEN-FM) and Talk 860 (WWDB-FM).
