4/25 WAKE-UP CALL: Biden To Kick-Off Campaign

President Joe Biden is set on Tuesday to formally announce his plans to run for reelection in 2024, asking voters to give him more time to “finish the job” he began when he was sworn into office and to set aside their concerns about extending the run of America’s oldest president for another four years.

Biden, who would be 86 at the end of a second term, is betting his first-term legislative achievements and more than 50 years of experience in Washington will count for more than concerns over his age. He faces a smooth path to winning his party’s nomination, with no serious Democratic rivals. But he’s still set to face a hard-fought struggle to retain the presidency in a bitterly divided nation.

➤TRUMP MOCKS BIDEN: Donald Trump mocked President Joe Biden over a report that said the Democrat would announce his 2024 bid on Tuesday via video. Trump taped an interview Monday with Newsmax's Greg Kelly and was again asked if he believed Biden, 80, would be the Democratic nominee. The former president, who's running for the 2024 GOP nomination, speculated that would not be the case saying, 'it would seem to me that somewhere along the line something will happen.' Trump then issued a statement with a blistering attack on Biden's presidency.

➤MAYBE FOX IS FOR SALE? Tucker Carlson was not told the reasons for his firing, according to Fox News insiders. Some said there was speculation Rupert Murdoch wanted to sell the network, and it was easier without him. A Fox News source told DailyMail.com: 'Tucker still hasn't been given any indication of why he was taken off the air. His producer Justin Wells was fired too. We believe Rupert wants to sell the company and it's harder to find an institutional buyer with Tucker as the main star. Tucker gone makes it more of an appealing media company to buy.' Carlson has declined to comment on his firing.

➤LEMON INTERVIEW WENT SOUR: Don Lemon's April 19 interview with Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy left executives 'exasperated', sources said, as insiders now expect Lemon to sue. 'There were rumblings inside CNN that they are revamping the morning show and Lemon's firing may have been part of that.' 'But Don may have blew it all up when he tweeted out the news.' Lemon said on Twitter he was 'stunned' by his firing. He appeared on air as usual on Monday morning, and appeared unconcerned as he signed off. Lemon has retained the aggressive Hollywood litigator Bryan Freedman to deal with his severance.

➤HUNTER BIDEN SPOTTED AT HIDEAWAY: A billionaire Democrat donor, sheltering Hunter Biden amid the brewing storm of his criminal probe, received multi-million-dollar federal contracts and offered a $93,000 job to the President’s niece, records reveal. Hunter Biden has been spotted hiding away at a $50 million Santa Ynez, California vineyard estate owned by Joe Kiani, a top donor to his father’s campaigns – contrary to recent reports he was camping out at the White House ahead of a pivotal meeting between his lawyers and federal prosecutors probing his business dealings.  It is not the first time Kiani, described by Joe Biden in 2018 as ‘one of my closest friends’, has offered shelter to a troubled Biden family member.

SUSPECT IN CUSTODY, ONE PERSON DEAD AT OKLAHOMA COMMUNITY COLLEGE, POLICE SAY: A suspect is in custody and one person is dead after a shooting at Rose State College in Midwest City, Oklahoma, the city’s police chief said Monday.  Chief Sid Porter told reporters the suspect and victim “are acquainted through a domestic situation.” The victim was shot once, he said. Officers, who were assigned to patrol the campus, received reports of a person shot, responded to the area and found the armed suspect, Porter said. “They ordered him to drop the gun, which he did,” the chief said. Porter said students and staff did a “fantastic job” at responding to the incident at the community college east of Oklahoma City. He said the campus had an active shooter drill in the past few weeks.

According to an industry research firm, volume also dropped a huge 21 percent in the week ended April 15. The latest sales data from NielsenIQ and Bump Williams Consulting shows a sharp fall from the week before, where sales plunged 6 percent, the New York Post reported

✞BOB NEWHARTS WIFE PASSES: Ginnie Newhart, the longtime wife of comedian Bob Newhart, died Sunday at the age of 82, just three months after the couple celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary.'We lost our beloved Ginnie Quinn Newhart - Wife, Mother and Grandmother on April 23rd, 2023 after a long battle with illness,' a statement on Newhart's Twitter page on behalf of the family read Monday. 🏀HOUSTON ROCKETS TO HIRE EX-CELTICS COACH IME UDOKA: The Houston Rockets have agreed on a deal to hire Ime Udoka as the franchise's next coach. The hiring comes nearly three months after the Boston Celtics suspended and dismissed Udoka for an improper workplace relationship, a situation the Rockets investigated with the league office and with the Celtics, among others, before making the job offer. In his one season as a head coach, Udoka led the Celtics to an NBA Finals appearance against Golden State.

🏀KINGS' DE'AARON FOX FRACTURED TIP OF FINGER; HOPEFUL FOR GAME 5: Sacramento Kings guard De'Aaron Fox fractured the very tip of his left index finger in Game 4, but there's still hope he will try to play in Game 5 against the Golden State Warriors on Wednesday. Fox would need to play with a protective covering on the finger, which is on his shooting hand. He will be listed as doubtful.
